The office building for HYT Engineering located in Pimpri Industrial Estate consists of two blocks organised around an open courtyard which provides light and ventilation to the interior spaces.
The structural system for this three storied building departs from conventional reinforced concrete construction, instead employing arcuate construction using fly ash bricks which are produced from fly-ash which is a waste product from coal-fired power plants. This traditional construction technique was executed with the help of contemporary machinery and formwork ensuring precision in construction. The walls are left with an exposed brick finish, making the details of the structural system visible.
Environmental considerations informed the design. Each floor has planters incorporated into the façade. These planters planted with cascading plants create a facade that acts as a shading device, limiting direct sun exposure on windows while cooling air as it passes through the vegetation.
